Welcome to Chapter 10, North Texas, of ASIS International, the largest organization advancing the security profession worldwide

Dear ASIS Members,

Have you considered my offer?

Since my last writing, several members have come forward inquiring about running for a position on the 2011 Chapter Board of Directors.

If you are still pondering the possibility, but have questions about a specific position (responsibilities, time involved, etc.), please reach out to me or another current member of the Board and we will be glad to help.

Even though most of the current Board has decided not to run for another term, we all have a vested interest seeing that the path of growth and success that we enjoyed this year continues in the years ahead. Please contact a member of the Board by the end of September with your nominee.

Want to get more involved but not interested in a spot on the Executive Board? Consider one of the many committees the chapter has to provide additional support and liaison with our contemporaries in the industry. This could be a great way for you to become more active with the chapter and each committee provides a valuable service. A list of current committees can be found under the Leadership tab.

In preparation of the ASIS Seminar and Exhibits coming to town in October, we have arranged for a departure from our normal monthly meeting format in September. The chapter will be holding a Happy Hour, after work on Thursday, Sept. 16.

For those attending or volunteering their time to assist during the seminar, we will have some additional information to share. There has been a great deal going on behind the scenes to get Dallas ready to host this huge event.

The most exhaustive efforts have come from Steve Castor and Martin Cramer who have served as our chapter liaisons to the ASIS Seminar Committee. Both of these gentlemen have been able to successfully balance their full-time jobs with meetings, calls, and correspondence going back almost a year to ensure that this year’s event is the best ever! When you see them, please extend your appreciation-they certainly deserve it.

Speaking of the annual seminar, check out the commemorative coin that the chapter will be offering for sale during the event. Whether or not you are coming to Dallas in October, this beautiful coin (designed by Chapter Secretary Tom Crincic) helps to promote our area and our chapter. More importantly, the sale proceeds go to support this year’s designated charity, “Assist The Officer.” The coins are in and will be available for purchase on-line or at the seminar.

Quantities are limited so order one now!
