Welcome to Chapter 10, North Texas, of ASIS International, the largest organization advancing the security profession worldwide
Dear ASIS Members,
American Idol has begun its ninth season. Even if you are not a fan, you have to appreciate the concept. FOX has created a forum where individuals audition for an opportunity that potentially opens the door to the career of their dreams.
I smile when I see those with less talent stand proudly in front of the judges, conveying to the television audience why they will not be back next week with just a few sour notes. As the same time, I see talented individuals transform over the next several weeks. Visits with voice coaches, a change of hairstyle or wardrobe, and some helpful tips from a celebrity mentor, help to enhance the performer. These components develop confidence and fine-tune the talent to bring out the best they have.
Although I will not be asking anyone to sing or dance this year, the Chapter board of directors is very interested in helping you reach your professional goals in 2010.
ASIS has provided the study materials and scholarship opportunities to help you become certified this year ─ and at a minimum expense. Our celebrity mentors consist of Chapter members who are some of the best in our industry. And they have voluntarily made it their goal to help you: get a scholarship, get that certification, transition into the security industry, or help you find a position.
Take a moment to look through the list of security professionals who will serve the Chapter on committees in 2010. These people are no less busy than the rest of us, but have committed to taking on their roles with the chapter to help you succeed and be the best you can be. Let us help you in 2010!
Also, as you gander at our newly-designed website, I want to recognize Chapter member Bob Wieland for making it happen. The website ─ the introduction to our chapter for many people ─ is evolving. If you like what you see, thank Bob (like the others who serve the Chapter, he's a volunteer).
